1997 World Champion
2 (2006/07)
Ken Doherty is a two-time World Seniors Championship runner-up who won the sport’s biggest prize at the Crucible Theatre in 1997.
Doherty defeated Stephen Hendry 18-12 to win the World Championship and reached the final twice more in 1998 and 2003 during a professional career that has seen him win six ranking event titles to date.
‘The Darling of Dublin’ continues to compete on the World Snooker Tour as well as the World Seniors tour, where he is looking to complete a unique ‘grand slam’ by adding the seniors crown to the World Professional, World Amateur and World Under-21 titles he has already won.
The Irishman came closest in 2020 when he led Jimmy White 4-0 in the best-of-nine frame final at the Crucible Theatre before agonisingly losing out in a deciding frame to ‘The Whirlwind’.
Four years later, Doherty reached a second World Seniors Championship final but was this time denied by Brazil’s Igor Figueiredo.
Doherty won the 2018 UK Seniors Championship in Hull and, in 2024, secured an emotional victory in the Mr Vegas World Seniors Snooker 900 event at Goffs in Ireland.
