Bio

Dublin’s Patsy Fagan scored the biggest victory of his career at the 1977 UK Championship when he lifted the title following a 12-9 success against Doug Mountjoy.

Having turned professional barely a year earlier, Fagan progressed to the final with wins against Jackie Rea, Fred Davis, Jim Meadowcroft and John Virgo, before edging Mountjoy to claim glory.

The following year he achieved his best result at the World Championship, defeating Alex Higgins 13-12 to reach the quarter-finals, before losing out to the great Fred Davis.

Based in London for many years, Fagan was runner-up in the 1974 English Amateur Championship to Ray Edmonds.
