The World Seniors Snooker (WSS) ranking lists have been updated following the eighth event of the Race to the Crucible series at The Crucible Club in Reading last weekend.
The top two players on the official WSS ranking list, as well as the top two on the ‘Race to the Crucible’ one-year list will earn their places in the World Seniors Championship, and they will be joined by the winner of a ‘Top 16 Shootout’ event – where players ranked between third and tenth on each list will compete for the final place.
One point is awarded for each frame won at an event and, should the same players sit in the top two of both rankings lists, then the official world rankings would take priority.
A second consecutive title for Jersey’s Aaron Canavan has seen him become the new world number one in the World Seniors Snooker (WSS) official two-year ranking list.
Canavan has overtaken Andrew Norman, who has won three events in the Race to the Crucible Series so far this campaign, in top spot but Norman remains in the automatic qualification places with a four-point lead over former world number one Wayne Townsend.
Northern Ireland’s Gerard Greene has climbed to fourth while event winners Alfie Burden and Dharminer Lilly sit in fifth and sixth position respectively.
The remainder of the top ten is made up by Philip Williams, who finished as runner-up last weekend, Nigel Howe, Stuart Watson and Neil Craycraft.
Wayne Townsend has maintained his position in top spot on the Race to the Crucible Series ranking list but has seen his lead narrowed to just a single point.
Double event winner Aaron Canavan, who once again lifted the title in Reading last weekend, has climbed into second place and holds a three-point advantage over third-placed Andrew Norman.
Previous event winners Dharminder Lilly and Alfie Burden sit in fourth and seventh position respectively while the remainder of the top ten places are taken by Gerard Greene, Philip Williams, Nigel Howe, Anthony Harris and Matthew Ford.
John Hunter has increased his lead at the top of the Super Seniors ranking list after a run to the final in Reading last weekend.
The double event winner now holds a 16-point advantage over second placed David Brock, while Anthony Harris, Dennis Tristram and Mukesh Parmar make up the top five.
A first title of the season for England’s Richard Pipe has seen him climb to 16th position on the latest Super Seniors ranking list.
